Files you have outside the App can also be opened with MusicReader App.
 
The way to do this differs per platform:
 
* On Windows 10 you do this:
** On the desired file right-click with mouse or do a long touch till square appears.
** From the drop-down menu, click Open with, then select MusicReader.
* On Mac OS you have these options:
** Drag the file onto the app icon in the Finder or the Dock.
** Select the file in the Finder, choose File > Open With, then choose an app.
** Control-click the file, choose Open With, then choose an app.
* On iPad you generally use this way to share file with MusicReader:  [https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/ipad/ipadf926c9e3/ipados Send files from Files on iPad]  Or you can use the Open With or Share option inside other Apps.
* On Android opening file gives an App selection dialog by default, unless you already set a default App. 
**Default Apps can be cleared in this way:
*** Open Android Apps settings. Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) users can open ''Settings > Apps'' while the former builds can open ''Settings > Application > Manage applications''.
*** Now search for the app you want to change the default settings for and tap on the app settings to open the info page of that application.
*** Scroll down the page to find the button ''Clear defaults''. If the app is a default app for any of the file type on your device, the button will be enabled, otherwise disabled. Simply tap on the button to clear all the files associated with the app.
**Inside most Android Apps you can also find a "Share" or "Open With" option.
 
 
When you open the file in the MusicReader App then you get a "Add Files" screen to add them to your library.

Get to Add Files[edit | edit source]

Add files is available both in the MusicReader App as on MRSync.com .


The functionality on both is roughly the same, with exception of "Scanner" (MRSync.com only) and "Browser" (App only).


In this section we will show how you get to the Add Files section.

MusicReader App[edit | edit source]

To access the Add Files sections follow these steps:

  1. In the top menu of MusicReader App go to "Full Menu". That's the icon indicated with 1 in Image 1.
  2. Then go to "Add Files" as indicated with 2 in Image 2.

On MRSync.com[edit | edit source]

  1. Go to www.mrsync.com and login with your account.
  2. Press the "Add Files" link as indicated with 1 in Image 3.

Local Files[edit | edit source]

To add files from your local system follow these steps:

  1. Go to "Add Files" using the instructions from section Get to Add Files .
  2. On the "Add Files" screen press the "Local Files" button as indicated with 1 in Image 5.
  3. Choose between selecting individual files or complete folder* as indicated with 2.
  4. Now you can select a folder in which you want to add the files. This is shown with 3 in the image. This is optional, you can leave it at "Root Folder".
  5. After that you can choose the way you want to add the files. 4 When you choose "Normal" then MusicReader automatically detects optimal settings for a file, but this can take longer. If you choose "Quick" then it will go faster, but default settings will be used.
  6. Press the "Add Files" button 5 to start adding.
  7. The file(s) are now added to MusicReader, wait for it to completely finish.

Take Photo with Camera[edit | edit source]

To add piece with internal camera of your system you need to follow these steps:

  1. Go to "Add Files" using the instructions from Get to Add Files .
  2. Then you press the "Camera" option as shown as 0 in Image 7.
  3. The first time you do this you need to approve access to your camera. Please approve that to continue.
  4. Now you should see screen like Image 7. In that screen you can use 1 to switch between front and back camera. And use 2 and 3 to take the photo.
  5. After you have taken the photo you will see a screen like Image 8. You see the image enhanced in multiple ways (see 4 ). Choose the one you want to use.
  6. Now you get an overview of photos (pages) taken like shown in Image 9. Here you can:
    1. take another photo with icon 5 - do this if your piece has multiple pages.
    2. rotate the selected photo with icon 6.
    3. Remove selected photo with icon 7.
  7. After you have taken all photos you enter your title in 8 and then press "Add File" 9.
  8. You can select a folder in which you want to add the files. This is shown with 11 in Image 10. This is optional, you can leave it at "Root Folder".

Scanning Paper Music[edit | edit source]

To add piece with scanner you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to "Add Files" using the instructions from Get to Add Files .
  2. Then choose the "Scanner" option as shown as 1 in Image 11.

  3. First time you start this you will be asked to install a program. This program allow the website to access the scanner on your computer.
  4. After installing it you will see screen as shown in image 12.
  5. Here you can change the following settings:
    • With 2 you can select the scanner you want to use. Please be aware that your scanner might be listed multiple times. If one doesn't work then please try the other option.
    • In 3 there are additonal settings you can set, but we recommend to use the default at first.
    • Image 13 - Enter details for scanned document.
      Resolution of scans can be set using 4.
  6. Then you can start your first scan with scan button 5.
  7. After you have scanned you can use 7 to rotated image or 6 to remove it.
  8. For scanning additional pages you can use 5 again.
  9. When you are done then press confirm button 8.
  10. then you get screen as Image 13. Here you can enter title and author 9. When you enter this information press "Confirm" 10.
  11. Now you can add the created tile (Image 14)

Mailbox / File Mailing

To add piece with scanner then follow these steps:

  1. Go to "Add Files" using the instructions from Get to Add Files .
  2. Then choose "Mailbox" as shown as 1 in Image 15.
  3. E-mail the files you want to add to address indicated. (See 2 in image)
  4. Then refresh the file list. (See 3 )
  5. Select the files you want to add at 4.
  6. And confirm selection with 5.
  7. Then you can select a folder in which you want to add the files. This is shown with 6 in the Image 16. This is optional, you can leave it at "Root Folder".

Download with Browser[edit | edit source]

With the internal browser of MusicReader you can easily add files from websites.

To do that follow these steps:

  1. Go to "Add Files" using the instructions from Get to Add Files . You need to do this inside the MusicReader App, it's not supported on MRSync.
  2. Then choose the "Browser" button which is indicated as 1 in Image 17.
  3. Choose the button to open the browser. 2
  4. Inside the browser navigate to the right website. You can do this with address bar indicated with 3 in Image 18. And you can click links on website itself.
  5. As soon as you click link of the file 4 , it will be downloaded and added right away.
