A piece in MusicReader can be added to one or more folders.
 
Inside the library you can select a folder to only show files inside that folder and it's subfolders.

The Library in MusicReader is the place to find, organize and open your pieces.

In this section we will give an overview of the functionality.

Image 1 shows how to get to the Library inside MusicReader.

Finding / Selecting File

After clicking library icon in top menu you see the screen in Image 2.

Here you can:

  1. Search by entering text. 1
  2. Limiting the library to a specific folder. 2 See also the next section Folders - Using and Adding.
  3. Sort the list based on a single column. 3 By default the sorting is on the first column.
  4. Jump in the list based on first letter of sorted column. 4
  5. See details about piece without opening it. 5
  6. Open the piece - simply click the piece itself.

Folders - Using and Adding[edit | edit source]

A piece in MusicReader can be added to one or more folders.

Inside the library you can select a folder to only show files inside that folder and it's subfolders.

In this section we will describe how to add and use folders.

Using & Managing Folders in Library[edit | edit source]

The main usage of folders is to limit the files shown in the library.

So you can then have it for example show files of a single ensemble / band / orchestra .

The library shows files from both the selected folder and it's subfolders.


In Image 3 we show the procedure for limiting the library to a folder.

First you press 1 which will make dropdown 2 appear.

Here you can select the folder to which you want to limit the library.

After you have done that the library will only show the pieces in that folder (and subfolders).


If you want to manage the listed folders then you press "Manage Folders" 3.

Then you see the screen shown in Image 4.

Here you can select a folder in 1.

Then you can add a subfolder by using "Add Folder" 2. This folder will be placed inside the folder selected.

If you press "Remove Folder" 3 then the selected folder will be removed, together with it's subfolders.

This action will not remove any pieces inside your library, they will remain and will still be available under "Complete Library".

Adding / Removing Files from folder[edit | edit source]

There multiple ways to put files in one or more folder.

In this sections we will give an overview.

Add Files[edit | edit source]

The most easy way to add a piece to a folder is when adding the file.

This method is describe in Adding Files .

Check that section for more information.

Library[edit | edit source]

Putting pieces into folder can also be done in the Library screen of MusicReader.

There are two ways to do that:


The first way is shown in Image 5.

You open the Library and then choose "Edit" 1 and then "Folders" 2 .

Click the area indicated with 3 to select a folder to edit.

Then you get a screen as shown in Image 6.

Here you can see the pieces currently referenced by the folder 5 .

Clicking on the piece will remove it from the folder, the piece itself will still remain in library.

At the bottom you see the complete library 4 .

Here you can click on piece to add it to the folder.

The piece will then appear in the top list.

The second way to add pieces to folders is shown in Image 7.

  1. In Library you press the arrow icon in column on the left 1 .
  2. Now you will see a dropdown as shown with 2.
  3. Press the "Info & Playlist" button 3.
  4. This makes screen like Image 8 appear, here you click 4.
  5. Now you see a list of folders 5 where you can select the folders this piece should appear in.

Edit Information

Editing of Piece Information is described in Setup Piece Settings.

Customization

The visible columns inside the library can be customized to make it show the info you need.

This is shown in Image 9:

  • Inside "Library" press "Settings" 1 in the top menu.
  • Then make sure the second menu is set to "Library Columns" 2
  • Now you will see a list of columns.
  • With the checkboxes under "Show" 3 you can show/hide a column.
  • By pressing on a column name 4 you can edit the name.


You can also customize the folders used inside the Library.

This is shown in Image 10:

  • After clicking you can press "Add Folder" 4, this will add subfolder of selected folder.
  • You can also press "Remove Folder" 5 . This will remove selected folder and the subfolders in it.
  • After selecting a folder you can also change the name of the folder.
