The way to do this differs per platform:

  • On Windows 10 you do this:

    • From the drop-down menu, click Open with, then select MusicReader.

    • Select the file in the Finder, choose File > Open With, then choose an app.
    • Control-click the file, choose Open With, then choose an app.
  • On iPad you generally use this way to share file with MusicReader: Send files from Files on iPad Or you can use the Open With or Share option inside other Apps.
  • On Android opening file gives an App selection dialog by default, unless you already set a default App.
    • Default Apps can be cleared in this way:
      • Open Android Apps settings. Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) users can open Settings > Apps while the former builds can open Settings > Application > Manage applications.
      • Now search for the app you want to change the default settings for and tap on the app settings to open the info page of that application.
      • Scroll down the page to find the button Clear defaults. If the app is a default app for any of the file type on your device, the button will be enabled, otherwise disabled. Simply tap on the button to clear all the files associated with the app.
    • Inside most Android Apps you can also find a "Share" or "Open With" option.

When you open the file in the MusicReader App then you get a "Add Files" screen to add them to your library.
