Setup Piece Settings

After you have added a piece your can customize it to you needs.

In tis section we will show you what can be changed.

Piece Information

For every piece inside MusicReader information like title, composer, genre, ... can be specific.

This information is used to identify the piece in for example the library.

There are three ways you can change piece information, two inside Library and one for active piece.

Inside Library[edit | edit source]

Inside library you can edit the piece information in two ways.

The first way is in the main library screen:

  1. First you go to Library screen which is shown in Image xx.
  2. In Library you press the arrow icon on the left as shown with (1) in Image.
  3. Now you will see a dropdown as shown with (2).
  4. Now press the "Info & Playlist" button as shown with (3).
  5. This makes screen like Image YY appear.
  6. Edit the Piece Information here under first tab. In the other tabs you can edit the associated playlists and folders.

Loaded Piece[edit | edit source]

After you have loaded a piece you can edit the piece info in this way:

  1. Press the Full Menu icon in the top menu.
  2. Then choose Piece Info as shown in Image XX.
  3. Then you see the screen of Image YY.
  4. Edit the Piece Information here under first tab. In the other tabs you can edit the associated playlists and folders.

Page Settings

Inside MusicReader you can change the page settings of a piece.

This includes:

  • Order of pages
  • Way pages are turned (half/whole)
  • Image XX - Page Settings Screen - Available Settings
    Page breaks for half pages.
  • Delays of automatic page turning.

You can change Page Settings in this way:

  1. Go to the "Page Settings" item as shown in image XX.
  2. Then you get screen as shown in Image XX.
  3. Here you can change order of pages by using the handle in page order list which is indicated with (1). You can simply drag and drop this handle.
  4. The plus-sign icon indicated with (2) clones that page. This allows you to repeat a page in the page order.
  5. You can remove/hide pages with the X-icon indicated with (3). Cloned pages are removed, the original pages only hidden.
  6. With the edit-icon indicated with (4) you can edit the settings of a piece. The settings area as shown with (5) is shown.

The settings shown in the settings area depend on the display mode:

  1. For One Page Display the options are shown in Image XX.
    1. Indicated with (6) is the standard page turn which is either half or whole page.
    2. When choosing half then page break can be customized woth either setting indicated with (7) or by clicking the music like shown with (8).
  2. For Half Page Display the options are shown in Image XX.

  3. For Two Page Display the options are shown in Image XX.
    1. With Standard Page Turn setting indicated with (10) you can determine how pages are turned. When you want both pages to change then choose 12 -> 34 . If you want one page to change then you can choose either 12 -> 32 or 12->23 .
  4. In Automatic you can defined the delays for page turning with timer. See Image XX.
    1. Half page turn timer can be determined autmatically (see (11) ), then it will be half of the whole page turn. or you can detemine delay woth setting indicated with (12). The delay is in seconds.
    2. Whole page turn timer can be specified as shown with (13). The delay is in seconds.

Cropping

Sheet music has white areas around it which you might want to remove to make notes larger.

Or certain parts of music you want to remove.

This can be done by cropping the music.

This can be done in two ways:

Save zoom as Crop[edit | edit source]

With zooming you can alter the cropping of the piece:

  1. First pinch-to-zoom on your touchscreen or use the scrollwheel of you mouse. Pinch-to-zoom is touching two fingers on the touch screen, and move them apart to zoom in, or together to zoom out. With scrolwheel of mouse you rotate forward to zoom in and backward to zoom out.
  2. Then you see the screen shown in Image XX. With "Save as Crop" button (see (1) ) you can save current zoom as crop. With "Edit Crop" button you can go to screen describe in next section. With "Revert Zoom" (see (3) ) you can go back to normal view.

There is also a screen where the cropping can be detected and set in more detail.

For this screen follow these steps:

  1. Go to "Full Menu" in top menu of MusicReader.
  2. Then in the "Crop" option under "Piece Functions".
  3. Now you see the crop screen as shown in Image XX.
  4. With buttons under (1) you can browse through the pages of the piece. With (2) you can autodetect the cropping of the current page and (4) does this for all pages. (3) sets the cropping of current page to the full page, so actually no crop. With handles like (5) and (6) you can manually detemine the crop. Simply drag the handles.

Piece Splitter

Some file are books that consists of several pieces.

There can be splitted in the Piece Splitter functionality of MusicReader.

This works as follows:

  1. Open the Piece from the Library.
  2. Then go to "Full Menu" and choose "Piece Splitter" option under "Piece Functions".
  3. Now you see the screen as shown in Image XX.

    Now you select the pages of single piece under (1). They will appear in the list indicated with (2).
  5. After you have added all accosiated pages you can set optional settings. These are indicated with (3) and (4). One determines the folder the piece is added to and the other tells to which field the book title is copied. Both are to make it easier to find all pieces contained in this book.
  6. Then press the "Create Piece" button as indicated with (5).


It's also possible to automate the splitting with so called CSV-files.

For this you press "Predefined Splitting Options" which is indicated with (6) in Image XX.

Then you get the screen shown in Image XX.

Here you can see instructions on how to create CSV file (1) and also a form up select the file (3).

Also there is a list of predefined books available (2).

Share / Print / Export

In MusicReader there are several options related to sharing / printing / export of pieces.

For this you follow these steps:

  1. Open the Piece from the Library. (Necessary if you want to do this for single file.)
  2. Then go to "Full Menu" and choose "Share / Print / Export" option under "Piece Functions".
  3. Now you get the screen as in Image XX.
  4. Here you first select what you what you want to export (1). You can choose between a single file, folder or playlist.
  5. When you choose folder or playlist then you can choose one (2). If you choose single file then you don't have to do selection.
  6. Then you select what you want to do (3). You can choose between Print, E-mail, Share and Export.
  7. After that you choose if you want to export pieces with or without annotations (4). If you selected a folder or playlist you can also choose the export a piece list.
  8. When you are ready then you press START.
